Learn to Row

Each year, the club runs a Learn to Row course for newcomers to the sport wishing to start rowing. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Each course runs for three months (24 sessions), usually on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12pm, and Monday evenings from 6pm to 8pm.  The first session is land-based, learning about rowing movement patterns and techniques using ergometers (rowing machines), and getting familiar with rowing terminology.  The following sessions are on the water in stable boats, working towards competencies and progression as shown here.  The conditions on the lake are not always suitable for beginners and so inevitably some sessions will be on land.   We hope at the end of the course you will be ready to progress to group 3 and, if so, will be invited to join the club as a full member.

The cost of the course is £200 which covers the 3 month course and use of all equipment.  Bursaries may be available for those on low incomes.  Please contact us for further details.
