There is something for everyone at Milton Keynes Rowing Club.
- Women’s Squad
- Men’s Squad,
- Recreational Squad
- Learn to Row
The Club Captain has overall responsibility for all club coaching, training, events and equipment. In addition, each Squad is led by a Captain who organises weekly crews and racing.
Men’s and Women’s Squads
There are regular Squad Meetings to set personal goals, squad aspirations and expectations for each season.
There is a Club Planner which allows members to indicate availability so they are able to fit their rowing and training around work and family life.
There is a structured progression of skills from Learn to Row Members (Group 1 and 2) into the Senior Squads (Groups 3 and 4).
Crews compete at local and national events including the Tideway Heads in March, British Rowing Championships and Henley events. The club has strong Masters crews within the squads who also compete internationally at World Masters Championships.
MKRC has an established reputation for being a competitive club while remaining friendly and welcoming to all.
Recreational Squad
Our increasingly popular Recreational Squad meets on Tuesday mornings. This session is for people interested in non-competitive rowing and is aimed at having fun, improving technique and keeping fit in sculling boats, together with some socialising and cake. We also arrange recreational events with other local clubs. We are always keen to attract new members who are interested in returning to the sport; we have existing group members who have returned after 10 to 45 year breaks! We have a limited capacity to teach new rowers in this group and there is always a waiting list but do please get in touch with the Recreational Captain for availability.
Coxing
Coxes are highly valued at MKRC and an important part of the crews – we have some dedicated coxes and welcome enquiries from those who would like to give it a try. Coxing Membership is free.
